Rev. Dr. Mitzi J. Smith, Ph.D. is the first African American female to earn a Ph.D. in New Testament from Harvard University. She is the J. Davison Philips Professor of New Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA; prior to that she taught for over 13 years at Ashland Theological Seminary. She is a preacher and author of many essays and several books including: I Found God in Me: A Womanist Biblical Hermeneutics Reader; Womanist Sass and Talk Back: Social (In)Justice, Intersectionality, and Biblical Interpretation; and Insights from African American Biblical Interpretation.  Her books are available at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and other online book distributors.
